Blackpool Street Photography

Blackpool is rarely spoken about in contemporary street photography. Over a bank holiday weekend, I photographed a town that feels caught between its past and present, where visitors searching for entertainment share the streets with those who call them home. Working here was challenging. People aren’t in a hurry and in this world, are highly aware of the camera, creating a level of tension I have seldom experienced elsewhere. The days of Martin Parr are long gone. These photographs are not an attempt to revisit familiar seaside clichés, but to document Blackpool as it exists today: complex and endlessly fascinating.
