I photograph close. Not to provoke, but to place the viewer right within the scene. Close enough that the images feel immediate and physical, as if you are moving amongst the people yourself. My street photography is about that closeness, and the quiet permission it gives the viewer to observe people in a way that would feel intrusive in real life.

“When I first saw these images, I was struck by their ability to bridge the past and the present, evoking the spirit of Garry Winogrand and Harold Feinstein, yet standing firmly in the now. In all my years working with the Feinstein estate, I haven’t seen contemporary street photography that so powerfully holds its own against the greats of the mid-century.”

British street photographer Robert Watson has exhibited internationally, including at Photo London with Albumen Gallery in 2025. His project ‘48 hours in New York’ received critical acclaim from Martin Parr and David Campany.
