Manchester’s iconic Central Library where photographer Robert John Watson is exhibiting from Saturday October 14th 2023 till early 2024

This year sees the return of Robert Watson to Manchester’s iconic Central Library for a nearly four month exhibition. As can be seen, few exhibition spaces outside of dedicated museums offer such an incredible area to display artwork

Opening night at Manchester Central Library

With such a large exhibition space there is more than enough room to exhibit works from all genre of photography. From sublime seascapes shot when conditions allow on the seafront at Blackpool in the North West of England (particularly ‘Blackpool 0630’ - the picture used to promote UNSEEN Amsterdam 2022 by the Dutch press) to social documentary photographs taken in London, Athens, New York and Manchester. Also the latest series of dancers from Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and premiering, will be a selection of the series ‘The Sky Above Her’. A very special set of photographs shot from the graveside of Watsons Mother who died in a care home during Covid. These vibrant and soulful pictures illustrate the kaleidoscope of colours seen in the evening skies above his Mother’s headstone.
